DISCLAIMER: Do take note that I cannot guarantee the same effect on everyone. Growing hair varies on a case-by-case basis and you might need specific hair growth supplements. So please, always proceed with caution.

1. Rosemary and Coconut Oil Hair Mask

|

Rosemary is known for its ability to stimulate hair follicles to produce new hair. It does so by promoting good blood flow to your scalp and stimulating the growth of your hair strands.

Meanwhile, coconut oil is known for its hair conditioning properties. It can prevent hair breakage by combating issues such as dandruff and lice.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tsp. rosemary leaves
  • 3/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 tsp. vitamin E oil

Instructions:

  1. Just mix two teaspoons of rosemary leaves and ¾ cup of coconut oil and heat them in a saucepan for around 25 minutes in low heat. Stir frequently to avoid burning the coconut oil.
  2. Strain the mixture and put it in a small container. Add one teaspoon of vitamin E oil if you have some.
  3. Apply on wet hair with a comb and cover hair with a shower cap. You can leave it for an hour to overnight depending on your preference.
  4. Once you’re ready to wash, rinse and massage your hair with warm water. Afterward, keep any leftover hair mask in the fridge. The shelf life for this is around 10 days.

2. Egg and Olive Oil Hair Mask

|

Egg and olive oil are both high in fat, which makes them good hair moisturizers. In addition, the protein in egg yolk helps make the hair stronger and healthier.

This is a hair mask that I tried a while back and I must admit, it made my hair softer and more moisturized. I can still feel the effect 3 days after applying the hair mask.

I told my sister to try it out and unfortunately, it didn’t have the same effect, so she tried other hair masks instead. But yes, what may work for me may not work for you, but it is worth a try.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Start by separating the egg yolk from the egg white. Usually, one egg yolk will do, but if you have longer hair, you might need two yolks.
  2. Once the yolk is separated, mix one teaspoon of olive oil (per egg yolk). Blend well and then apply on hair.
  3. Gently massage the hair mask on your hair. Once you’ve covered everything, cover your hair with a shower cap to lock in the vitamins and minerals. You can leave it on for at least an hour.
  4. Rinse with lukewarm water as hot water can easily cook the egg, we don’t want that to happen!

3. Aloe Vera and Essential Oils Hair Mask

|

Aloe vera is one of our hair’s best friends. It offers so benefits such as:

  • Promoting Hair Growth: Similar to rosemary, aloe vera is a powerful stimulant that promotes good blood circulation. You’ll be able to grow your hair at a much faster rate if it’s getting the necessary vitamins and minerals that blood carries.
  • Hair Conditioning: Aloe vera is a powerful moisturizer. It can moisturize any external part of the body, and the scalp, hair strands, and skin are no exceptions. Note that you’ll only be able to grow fast if your scalp and strands are healthy.
  • Dandruff Removal: Having trouble trying to get rid of dandruff? Studies show that aloe vera has fatty acids which can reduce scalp and skin inflammation that cause dandruff.

What you’ll need:

  • 120 ml of aloe vera gel
  • 12 ml of water
  • essential oil (choose from lavender, rosemary, or cedarwood)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix 120 ml of aloe vera gel with 12 ml of water and stir lightly. Pour the mixture into a jar or spray bottle then shake well.
  2. For best results, you can add 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil into the mixture. Make sure choose options that’ll help you grow your hair faster such as lavender, rosemary, and cedarwood.
  3. For the application, simply spray onto the hair whenever you like. This is a great hair mask for people who suffer from hair thinning and hair fall.

4. Honey and Olive Oil Hair Mask

|

Both honey and olive oil are emollient ingredients, which means that they’re great for sealing moisture in the hair. Packed with antioxidant properties, this hair mask will strengthen the hair, helping it prevent hair fall and other types of hair damage and breakage.

We always have honey at home so this was an easy hair mask for me to make. I loved the effect on my hair because it was softer and more manageable.

However, I’ve read that there are people who are allergic to honey, so if you’re one of those, please don’t try this anymore even if it’s just on your hair.

There are other hair masks you can try. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

What you’ll need:

  • 5 Tbsp. olive oil
  • honey

Instructions:

  1. Mix 5 tablespoons of olive oil and a few drops of honey together in a small bowl. Whisk until you achieve the hair mask consistency that you prefer.
  2. Afterward, apply the mixture onto your damp hair and make sure the hair mask is distributed evenly. Cover hair with a shower cap for at least 90 minutes.
  3. For rinsing, use shampoo and lukewarm water to clean the hair mask from your hair completely.

5. Lemon and Olive Oil Hair Mask

|

As we may all know, lemons are packed with Vitamin C. This vitamin can combat the effects of oxidative stress, improve collagen production, and absorb vitamins and minerals such as iron better.

Lemon may be acidic in nature, but it is that quality that also helps tighten hair follicles, thus, preventing hair fall and unclogging hair follicles.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. water

Instructions:

  1. To make this hair mask, mix 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 2 tablespoons of water.
  2. Once the mixture is ready to go, apply the mixture on your damp hair and wrap with a warm towel.
  3. Leave the mixture for at least 20 minutes before rinsing with shampoo and water.
