Bobbi Brown Is Leaving Her Namesake Cosmetics Line: SMASHING
In a move I didn’t see arriving, Bobbi Brown is leaving her namesake cosmetics line after quarter of a century, WWD reports that. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, which is owned by appeal of giant Estee Lauder (who recently acquired Too Challenged Cosmetics as a part of their burgeoning brand portfolio, which also contains companies like Origins, M. A. C. and Clinique), will still exist, but Brown is expected to leave the label by the end of the year. (Read: Like 10 days from nowadays. )

And while all of us are sad that the creative genius behind Bobbi Brown Makeup foundation (the Bobbi Brown, the one who sat in the back burner of an Uber with our beauty editor once recently— read more about that later) is leaving her brand, we know it’s got still in good hands as Peter Lichtenthal, existing global brand president, will continue to oversee the business all the way through her absence. While Brown has yet to reveal the girl’s next move, sources speculate to WWD she’ll have access to a new business endeavor under her belt some time in 2017.
But hang on. Let’s pour particular out for Bobbi Brown and her line for a next. I’d argue that she wasn’t only one of the original innovators of the natural beauty look, but rather the official inspiration for the no-makeup movement that I actually live by. It’s soft, pretty, and admittedly, unfiltered in a world where seemingly everything is Facetuned, Photoshopped or a “tweaked just a tiny bit. ” Even though Lauder President and as well as CEO Fabrizio Freda told WWD that Bobbi Pink Cosmetics is a “prestige cosmetics powerhouse, with a highly encouraging ? bright ? rosy ? heartening future, poised for its next chapter of growth, ” I can’t help but be a little bit sad that Bobbi Brown is leaving her namesake cosmetics line whole the year. If nothing else, it’s because our beauty editor Lexi got to ride in an Above all with Bobbi and get her makeup done — and I didn’t.
But really, with thanks, Bobbi Brown, for your 25 years of flawless skin to barely there makeup.
We’ve reached out to Bobbi Brown and the Estee Lauder Companies for comment and will update this post as soon as any of us hear back.
