Father Narrates His Teen Daughter& #039; s Makeup Tutorial— and It& #039; s Pure Comedy
If the recent explosion of male beauty bloggers is usually any indication, the time is ripe to ditch stereotypes around men and makeup. So this video where a dad narrates his teen daughter’s makeup tutorial couldn’t have come in a better time. Seriously, it’s even cuter then you would certainly expect.
Rather than take her fans through a standard everyday-look tutorial, YouTuber Megan (a. nited kingdom. a. Meggs and Bacon) made the video a family occasion by having her dad do the step-by-step voice-over narration. As well as the result is not only hilarious but also surprisingly insightful. After a tough start comparing E. D. F. ’ s hydrating primer towards the literal sweat of elves and calling Megan’ s i9000 Beautyblender “an egg that’ s squishy, ” Father really pulls it together with some savvy tutorial suggestions. First, comes the foundation. As Megan dabs on her “makeup camouflage”— a. k. a. liquid foundation— he moves us through the proper blending procedure complete with “dab, apply, dab” sound effects. Then it’ s time for shaping, where he whips out some pretty funny one-liners designed for Megan’ s highlighter.
By the time Megan gets to her eyes, Dad seems totally lost, considering her shadow primer is a solution to her daughter’s non-existent problem of dry, cracked eyelids. But he rapidly recovers when it comes to the brows by saying what we just about all think when we pick up a brow pencils: “I don’ t like the eyebrows I was given, so I’ mirielle drawing these in a little bit darker. ” Preach, Father. The final steps of contouring get little bit exhausting pertaining to Megan’ s dad, whose attention seems to be waning: “ You could see my cheekbones before I put all of that other crap on but now you can’ t therefore i have to highlight them again. ” Ultimately though, he’ s happy with the final product.

Despite his funny quips, Dad calls out some makeup routine realness throughout the tutorial. Like the idea that Megan’s Instagram-worthy brushes are just there to make her feel fancy, the truth that sometimes you have to cover up your mustache hairs, and the reality bomb that most of us only end up using a few of the dark areas in our favorite palettes. We have to say, Dad gets this.
