HuesBox for Women of Color Is Everything We’ve Dreamed of
Over the years I’ve spent hundreds of dollars upon foundation that didn’ big t match my dark skin . Robin, Jasmine, plus Jenae Harris are so familiar with this experience they developed HuesBox, a subscription beauty box service for women associated with color. “This is by people of color, for individuals of color— not just African-Americans, Africans, ” Robin Harris told MPR News . “We’re talking about Asians, Hispanics and American Indians due to the fact it’s this missing component of other boxes that are on the market. ”
Now, I know what you’ re thinking: Subscription attractiveness boxes for black women isn’ capital t new. In fact , you’ ve probably tried a few containers yourself. But , HuesBox is different. Unlike most beauty containers, HuesBox is comprised of items from small black-owned company vendors. So you’ ll be hard pressed to find these products in your local drugstore. And it’s especially nice when looking for a little bit of variety.
The Allure Beauty Box is pretty fab, too:

What’ s a lot more? The boxes have themes based on ethnic traditions. The very first box’s theme (which launched last month) is “detox” and includes a feminine hygiene tea used by Native United states, Latino, African and Asian women, Jasmine told NPR News.
Each box features 4 to 6 sample-sized products. Customers can also pay for full-sized products on the internet, or pay $12 a month for a home delivery provider. Currently HuesBox has 10 vendors and are looking to increase in the new year, including branching into kids plus men’s boxes. But regardless of what’ s in the package, the Harris’ hope to generate conversation about health in the box, and online at huesbox. com .
“We’ll possess products to reduce stress and boost mental health — topics not discussed often in communities of colour, ” she said. “One of our goals is to produce those conversations and that’s why it’s important that this is not just a make-up box. ”
Sounds like the perfect way in order to kick off 2017.
