L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte-Mattic Eyeliner in Ultra Black Evaluation
HOW IT LOOKS/FEELS:
The twist-up, mechanical-pencil-style setup (with a built-in sharpener) lets you draw a precise, skinny type of matte black color.
WHY WE LIKE IT:
This particular liner’ s tiny, pointed tip means using it is similar to writing with a mechanical pencil: It creates a very skinny, really precise line. If you want the subtlest of tightlining, a single stroke will do; for more drama or cat eyes, return over the lash lines several times, tilting to the side of the lining for a thicker, smudgier effect. The formula contains waxes and silicones to help it go on without skipping, yet that’ s not to say it’ s easy-peasy. As is standard with gel-creams, you must act fast if you want to smudge out there the color or fix mistakes; our tester kept the Q-tip and makeup remover handy. But the tradeoff is usually color that lasts an insanely long time. Like, in case you didn’ t remove it, it might last the rest of your life— it had been completely intact at bedtime, and our tester needed to reload her cotton round with eye-makeup remover 3 times to get the job done.
