When you look good, you feel good . Makeup can’t cure an illness, but sometimes, the cliché holds true. For Amanda Ramirez, feeling good is about success, as she battles cancer with makeup.

As Yahoo! Elegance reports, the 22-year-old California native has been diagnosed with stage-3 Hodgkin’ h lymphoma in August, a cancer that will attacks the body’ s immune system. Since beginning the girl treatment, which includes chemotherapy and extended hospital stays, Ramirez has made an effort to apply her makeup in full glam each day. Why? Because it makes her feel good, giving her the particular strength she needs to keep battling her illness .

Ramirez told Yahoo!, “ I’ ve always been a make-up enthusiast. I began learning makeup on my own at the age of nineteen, and ever since then I fell in love with the art of beauty. I had been definitely like this prior to the cancer, and it’ s allowed me to immensely with dealing with my treatment. When you look wonderful, you feel beautiful. ”

Her good attitude in the face of illness has made her something of a superstar on social media. On Instagram , where she’ s been documenting her trip since day one, the makeup maven has a whopping twenty six, 800 followers cheering her on from the sidelines. She’ s become something of an role model for many other cancer patients , a lot of whom struggle to feel confident as the illness takes its cost.

Though it may seem silly to battles cancer along with makeup, Ramirez is living proof that maintaining an optimistic attitude is instrumental in recovery from any sickness.
