These Korean Sunglass Nails Are Incredible
This past summer mirror-like chrome and metallic manicures flooded our news feeds, and now the discovery of another high shine design proves the trend lives on for autumn. Sunglass nails are now a thing, and you can be sure this mesmerizing new design is going inspire endless DIYs.
Earlier this week celeb manicurist and Paintbox creative director Julie Kandelec posted an Instagram image of what may be the chicest nail to hit the internet yet. Located in Korea, the image displays a lone perfectly square shaped nail with the same effect of a pair of classic polarized Ray Bans. You know that cool selfie moment when you slightly capture the background colors of a fall sunset reflecting of your shades? This is the manicure version of that, almost exactly. Of course, a design this cool belies one question and one question only: How can we recreate it, like, yesterday?
The intricate blend of colors seems like it would be a task to leave for the pros, but Kandelec tells Refinery 29 it may be simpler than one would believe. “Chrome nails as we know them are done with an extremely fine pigment. The final effect is super-cool, but the application process is very messy. To me, this looks more like a single nail covering, which would make it a one-step process,” Kandelec told Refinery 29.
While it seems not even Kandalec has uncovered the secret process behind this eye-catching nail art, we’re sure she won’t be the only nail guru to unravel the the secret behind these sunglass nails. We’re surely going to be on the look out ourselves and as soon as we find this magic process (or product) we’ll be sure to share.
