This Is the Coolest Halloween Makeup We've Ever Seen
The makers of the OG rainbow highlighter are back with some Halloween highlighters fit for channeling your inner witchy woman. Over the past week, Bitter Lace Beauty announced on Instagram not one, but five new spooky products that they’ll be adding to their shop next month. Not only did they preview the finished compacts, but they also showed what the concoctions looked like before they were pressed into pans, and dished out swatches of each shade. These are the first launches for Bitter Lace Beauty since the rainbow highlighter, Prism, which sold out in a matter of days. Although they might be novel and fun to look at—like, really novel, and really fun—they also have practical uses.
Personally, I’m most excited about The Next Supreme, a gray highlighter with purple and green shimmer. Trying out-of-the-ordinary highlighters may be one of my favorite past times, but this is the first one I’ve seen with a gray base. Plus, my inner American Horror Story fan is into the Coven-inspired name.
There’s also Hocus Pocus, a purple, green, and orange compact with a spider-web embossed on it. If you watch the movie of the same name every year like I do, you’ll love this bewitching brew that’d make for a great blush.
For a more traditional shade, there’s Toothache, which is a white, orange, and yellow pressed highlighter. It’s inspired by the quintessential love-hate confection of the season, candy corn.
The creepiest of the bunch: Slay. Yes, you can now have a murder-inspired highlighter to add to your Halloween makeup stash. Bitter Lace Beauty called it a “killuminator” on their Instagram. It has a white-gold base with red blood splatter-like details. Together, they blend to make a pretty rusty shade that’s perfect for true crime fans to get a fall glow going.
The last Halloween highlighter that Bitter Lace Beauty announced is their first-ever liquid formula called I Put a Spell on You. The water-based pearly white is housed in an adorable skull bottle. “It dries down to be smudge-proof and can be used alone or even to intensify and change the powder shades of the collection,” they explained on Instagram.
The Halloween makeup will be available on Saturday, October 1 at 3 p.m. EST. All five will be offered in a bundle for $132. Have a particular favorite? The pressed highlighters will come individually in red and matte-black compacts for $28, and the liquid highlighter will be $30. Each Bitter Lace Beauty product is handmade by Jenna Georgescu. Because of this, Georgescu told me the Halloween highlighters are limited edition, and once they are sold out, they will not be available again. The rainbow highlighter sold out in seconds, so go big or go home (to count your candy, presumably.)
Now, watch how to create an American Horror Story costume:
