This particular Teen Freaking Out for Accidentally Buying $733 of Sephora Products Is All of Us
We’ve almost all been there: One minute you’re scrolling through your favorite online shop, throwing caution to the wind as you add this palette and that eye liner and these lipsticks to your cart, dreaming of being able to just buy everything. Sighing wistfully, you click the “save for later” key and get on with your day (until, you know, a promotion code lands in your inbox).
Unless, nicely, you’re Alex Dello. The 15-year-old self-proclaimed “makeup fiend” from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was shopping on Sephora. com last week whenever she accidentally charged $733 to her mom’s credit card. Ouch.
Apparently, Dello was trying to look into the balance on an old gift card when she clicked on “checkout, ” not realizing that the gift card has been empty. Because her mom’s credit card was already on document with the retailer and that was all she had to do to accomplish the one-step purchasing process, she got an purchase confirmation. Whoops. When she realized what she’d accomplished, she did what we’d all do and panicked. She even talked to Sephora’s customer service to see when they could cancel the order, but since it’s technically the girl mom’s account and not her… well, no dice.
Then, like a true member of the iGeneration, Dello took to social media to explain her faux pas within a video.

She is all of us when she states, “Every girl in the world who’s a makeup hoarder just their Sephora basket filled up with things they don’t necessarily need… therefore yeah, I have a Sephora basket filled with things that I want— $733 dollars worth! ”
Who also hasn’t fantasized about being able to purchase everything on our wish list? And for Dello, this story has a happy ending: The girl texted her mom to tell her she’d accidentally billed the card, and according to Buzzfeed, her super-understanding mama informed Dello that the buy would be her Christmas present . #Goals.
